Location

If you allow it, Moonbound uses your location to work out when the Moon rises, is highest in the sky, and sets where you are, and which features are worth looking at tonight. These calculations run entirely on your device. Your location is never sent to us or to any third party. If you decline, Moonbound still works and simply uses an approximate evening time instead.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Moonbound schedules reminders for good observing nights directly on your device. No notification service or server is involved.

Camera & Photo Library

Moonbound uses your camera to detect lunar features live through your telescope. Feature detection runs entirely on-device. If you choose to save a photo, it is written directly to your device's Photos library. Moonbound does not upload, transmit, or retain a copy anywhere else.

Moonbound Pro & Purchases

Moonbound is free to use. Moonbound Pro is an optional upgrade, available as a monthly or yearly auto-renewable subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

All purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple Account. Moonbound never sees or stores your payment details, name, or email address. To know whether Pro is unlocked, the app asks Apple on your device which purchases belong to your Apple Account, and whether you bought Moonbound before it became free. Nothing about your purchases is sent to us.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them at any time in your Apple Account settings. Apple's handling of your purchase data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy (apple.com/legal/privacy).

Accounts & Tracking

Moonbound does not require user registration, does not implement analytics, and does not include third-party tracking software or SDKs.

Cloud Sync

There is no cloud sync in Moonbound. All data remains on your device at all times. No backup or syncing service is connected.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. The only thing it loads from another service is the “Download on the App Store” badge, which comes from Apple. The city you type in “Tonight on the Moon” is used only in your browser to work out tonight's sights, and is never sent anywhere. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.
